Fog City Gardener‘s mission is to inspire the gardener and maker in all of us. Whether you’re growing in a pot, a patio, or an acre. We believe all of us can grow and cultivate community through gardens and urban farming practices.

Blas Craig Herrera & Jamie Marie Chan are natives of San Francisco, California. Growing up among concrete and row houses only fueled their love of the outdoors. Now they tend a homestead in San Francisco with their girls, complete with honey bees, chickens, a greenhouse, mini orchard, and vegetables. They challenge themselves to grow food in their foggy Mediterranean climate by exploring heirloom vegetables, subtropical fruits, and rare plants in their tiny urban homestead.

Blas has a bachelor’s degree in environmental studies and a certificate in sustainable design from the Urban Permaculture Institute of San Francisco. He is passionate about reuse and envisioning a garden as a closed system. Jamie has a master’s in science from San Francisco State University and is a certified UC Cooperative Extension Master Gardener. She loves the science behind gardening and sharing it in an accessible way to everyone. In our free time, you can find them volunteering in our local community greenspace SisterhoodGardens, posting on Instagram, and hugging their backyard chickens.
